SOMETHING

About Me

Zeroz & Onez was founded by myself, Steven Wollman after moving with my family to the city of Rancho Palos Verdes. As a long time resident of the Los Angeles area, I'm happy to say I was born, raised and still reside in my beloved La-La land community.

I feel fortunate to have been exposed to computers at an early age. Combined with what my mother called a curious mind, I absorbed everything I could learn about them, and have since worked with many types of systems and mastered many types of software. This has afforded me a very diverse and very complete understanding of the needs of small business owners which I am always happy to share. Some of the skills and experiences I've picked up along my journey include:

Much of what I now know stems from the perseverance I learned while serving in the US Army. What I refer to as my challenge oriented mindset was developed during my service from 1987'-95'. This included my OSUT at Fort McClellan in Anniston, Alabama, where I received training as a 95B Military Police Officer, followed by a 2.5 year tour as part of the 7th ATC's 536th Military Police Company operating as part of a detached unit serving at Pond Barracks in Amberg, West Germany, where I earned the rank of Sergeant and numerous commendations, and yes, I was there when the Berlin Wall fell, and lastly, returning to California where I was assigned to the 40th Military Police Company to serve out the remainder of my enlistment. I truly credit my time in service with my inclination to learn and master whatever challenge is placed in front of me.

On a personal note, I've been happily married for over 20 years. My wife is amazing. In the words of Jerry Maguire, "She completes me," and as of June 2022, she will have completed and earned her MBA from UCLA's Anderson School of Business, I also have two amazing children, one in high school, who is a creative force with which to be reckoned, and the other in college studying engineering at my Mother's alma-mater.

In my free time, I like to learn new things and thus you'll usually find me in front of a computer reading, watching a video or working on an exercise. My latest project involves machine learning and thus I've had to hit the books on relearning linear algebra including regression analysis, probability, and more. If you've never checked them out, I wholeheartedly recommend checking out Edx, LinkedIn-Learning and even Khan Academy. You can audit any of the course on EdX, LinkedIn-Learning is available free through many library memberships, and Khan Academy is free to anyone. There are  plenty of other free learning sites but I prefer to avoid advertisements and thus these are great. You can truly learn just about anything you can imagine.

I also like to volunteer my time to worthwhile causes and so it is that I've been a volunteer for the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department helping with research for the Sheriff as part of their Management Projects Unit. I'm also a past PTA president, a past chair of the Reflections Arts Program for the PVPUSD's PTA, as well numerous other roles in the CAPTA.

My latest volunteer efforts have me using more of my technical skills mentoring high school students in the Java programming language and thus it is that for almost every Sunday over the last 4 years from September thru June, you'll find me serving in the capacity of mentor at Palos Verdes High School on their PVIT Space Team where we're hoping to launch a CubeSat into space before the end of 2024.
